Acoustic Reports/ Noise and Vibration Monitoring

EMS provides a comprehensive range of environmental monitoring services, which include Acoustic Assessments, Noise & Vibration Monitoring as detailed below:

  • Noise Impact Assessments (DA Acoustic Reports) for new and existing developments including noise predictions using the acoustic modelling software SoundPLAN and the provision of noise mitigation recommendations to satisfy development consents, relevant standards and guidelines. EMS provides acoustic reports for child care centres, restaurants, licensed venues, fitness studios and for the mechanical plant for residential, commercial and industrial developments.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Noise Surveys for commercial and industrial facilities to prevent noise induced hearing loss, including recommendations on noise mitigation measures and the appropriate hearing protection for personnel at the site. An indoor noise map can also be provided using SoundPLAN to highlight regions within an area with a noise exposure level above the occupational noise limit. To capture the noise exposure level of an employee over the entire work shift, EMS utilises noise dosimeters which are worn by selected workers along with spot Sound Pressure Level measurements of noisy items of plant.
  • Aircraft, Road and Rail Traffic Noise Assessments for new or existing projects. EMS can measure, assess and provide construction recommendations to protect against noise intrusion from transport noise specific to the development, including easy alternatives to suit the client’s material preferences utilising INSUL partition prediction software.
  • Building & Room Acoustics and Mechanical Services acoustic modelling and compliance assessments for buildings including interior design sound levels (via controlling mechanical services emissions and noise intrusion from outside), reverberation times design and acoustic separation within the building. Greenstar v1.3 (Acoustic Comfort) assessments to satisfy the AS/NZS 2107:2016 Acoustics – Recommended design sound levels and reverberation times for building interiors, and the required acoustic separation. Design recommendations and compliance testing for NCC BCA assessments for Class 2, 3 and 9c buildings for airborne and impact sound insulation.
  • Construction Noise and Vibration Management Plans, including mitigation and monitoring plans/programs, to reduce the impact of noise and vibration during all phases of construction and preserve amenity and prevent cosmetic and structural damage to neighbouring buildings and structures.
  • Noise & Vibration Monitoring using NATA calibrated noise and vibration devices with the SMS/email alerts, real time level display and remote download functionalities. The noise and vibration monitoring can be carried out attended or unattended for construction, residential, commercial or industrial sites for OC, EPA EPL, Government or Council compliance as well as in a response to a noise or vibration complaint.
    • Noise Monitoring EMS has noise monitors with the ability to record audio files once a set noise threshold has been exceeded or continuously throughout the monitoring period. For a number of noise sources AI can be used to either identify the noise source in question or filter out irrelevant noise sources from the noise data.
    • Vibration Monitoring Our vibration monitors come with either geophone transducers, which measure velocity in PPV or RMS in (mm/s), or with an accelerometer which measures the aforementioned velocities as well as acceleration and the Vibration Dose Value (VDV) for whole body vibration measurements.
